Shigeki Yamamoto was born in 1979 in the Osaka prefecture of Japan. He studied interior design at the Osaka Sogo College of Design. After graduating in 2000, he worked under Nobuyuki Tachibana, a Japanese iron sculptor. Yamamoto’s own metal furniture work was presented in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Japan.
In 2006, Yamamoto moved to Germany to study carpentry and woodwork. He launched his original brand Shigeki YAMAMOTO in Berlin in 2010, which is dedicated to amplifying a sense of both fun and quality in daily living. In Yamamoto’s words, "I try to keep a spiritual richness into my work, especially in the face of today’s industrialized mass production."
