About This Piece

Vintage Design

A set of two unique sling chairs produced in the 1970s, in the manner of Dominique Zimbacca, likely of French or Brazilian origin. The design is defined by its solid wood construction and sculptural, almost monolithic form. Thick elements and visible assembly emphasize the structure, with each part reading clearly as both support and composition. The proportions are compact and grounded, giving the chairs a strong presence. A key feature is the sling leather seat, suspended within the frame. Zimbacca’s work is associated with a more radical, material-driven approach to furniture, where pieces are treated as constructed objects rather than refined forms. This set follows that direction, with an emphasis on weight, geometry, and the expressive use of materials.
