Vitra Design Museum

About this Museum

The Vitra Design Museum is one of the world’s most prominent museums of design. It is dedicated to the research and exhibition of design, past and present, and examines its relationship to architecture, art and everyday culture.

The museum mounts two major exhibitions per year in its main building, which was designed by architect Frank Gehry. Smaller parallel shows are presented in the Vitra Design Museum Gallery, a neighboring exhibition space.

Vitra Design Museum’s program centers around its collection, which encompasses not only key objects of design history, but also the estates of several important figures, including Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson, Verner Panton and Alexander Girard. The museum’s library and document archive are available to researchers upon request.
