The Design Exchange

About this Museum

Established in 1994, Design Exchange is a registered charitable, not-for-profit cultural institution and Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the pursuit of design excellence and preservation of design heritage. At the crossroads of multiple disciplines, from furniture and architecture to graphics and fashion, DX's exhibitions, talks, and educational programs are curated to reflect the popular zeitgeist and contemporary culture, while demonstrating the relevance and importance of design to everyday life. Under a renewed strategic vision that launched in March 2012, DX has hosted renowned globetrotting exhibitions from prestigious cultural institutions, including Stefan Sagmeister’s The Happy Show and Design Museum London’s Christian Louboutin retrospective, alongside its own This Is Not A Toy, guest curated by Pharrell Williams, and Politics of Fashion | Fashion of Politics, guest curated by Jeanne Beker. The museum attracts thousands of visitors of all ages to its historic, downtown Toronto Stock Exchange building.
