Mid-Century Swedish Pendant Lamp in Brass, Navy Blue Lacquered Steel, and Red and Clear Glass by Erik Höglund for Einar Bäckström Metallvaruindustri, 1960s

Striking Swedish Mid-Century pendant lamp from the 1960s, designed by Erik Höglund together with Einar Bäckström and produced by Einar Bäckström Metallvaruindustri, with glass inserts manufactured at Boda glassworks.

The lamp is defined by its clean, architectural rectangular form in dark navy blue lacquered steel, combined with a warm brass structure and inset molded glass panels in alternating clear and deep red tones. The textured glass elements create a distinctive rhythmic pattern and produce a particularly atmospheric light when illuminated.

The contrast between the deep blue-toned exterior, glowing brass interior, and sculptural glass inserts gives the piece a strong visual identity characteristic of Scandinavian Modern lighting from the period.

This example represents the larger and less commonly encountered version of the model. While smaller variants appear on the market with some regularity, this elongated format is notably more unusual and provides a stronger architectural presence, particularly suited for placement above a dining table or similar surface.

Fitted with three internal light points (E27), providing generous and well-balanced illumination, and suspended from a black ceiling canopy via two cords.
