Vintage Design

This beautiful Luigi Massoni console table appears as if floating in the air. It is actually supported by a glass detail, which almost concealed to the eye by a clever design.

A unique detail to this particular piece is a golden crackled glass top. It was very popular in midcentury Italian and French furniture. It was prized for combining the shimmer of metal leaf with the modern, sleek look of glass.

HOW its made:
A sheet of tempered glass is thermally shocked - quickly heated and then cooled - so it fractures internally into many small crystalline pieces. Gold leaf was applied to back surface, creating that warm amber reflection and depth.
