Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Paris, France
Born in Brittany in 1971 and 1976, brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have been collaborating since they were students at École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs and École des Beaux-Arts Décoratifs. Their career took off in 1997 when Giulio Cappellini discovered their work and offered to manufacture two of their designs; Closed Bed and Spring Chair. They officially founded their own firm in 1999.
In 2000, Rolf Fehlbaum, Chairman of Vitra, invited the Bouroullecs to produce new office furniture designs, the beginning to a long and fruitful partnership that has resulted in numerous iconic works, such as Algues, Alcove Sofa, and Vegetal Chair. The Bouroullecs have also designed for brands such as Kvadrat, Magis, Kartell, and Ligne Roset, as well as limited editions for Galerie Kreo in Paris. Their work has garnered international awards and has been the subject of several museum exhibitions.
