Bristol, United Kingdom

Diana Beltran Herrera was born in Colombia in 1987, and studied design at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design. After school, she became interested in experimental painting and moved to Helsinki to study ceramic sculpture at the Suomenkielinen School. She moved to England in 2013, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Fine Arts at the University of the West of England in Bristol.

Working primarily in paper, Herrera investigates both the notions of temporality and transformation as well as the relationship between nature and humans in the modern world. Notable projects include her ongoing series of vibrant, handmade paper birds.

Since 2011, Herrera has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Colombia and abroad, including shows at Espacio ArtNexus Bogotá, iam8bit gallery in Los Angeles, Beers Lambert Contemporary in London, and Garaje Gallery in Bogotá, among others. In fall 2013, she opened her first international solo exhibition at Florida’s Cornell Fine Arts Museum.
