UMAKART is a group of admirers and enthusiasts for Czechoslovak design, which dates back to the existence of separate Czech and Slovak countries. The gallery champions designs similar to the pieces that gained attention and fame at the Czechoslovak pavilion at the World Exposition in 1958, Brussels. After the success of the World Expo, smaller manufacturers across the country started to produce similar style works throughout the 1960s. Many of the items sold by UMAKART retain the original patina that has become part of the history and charm of the designs. If needed, the gallery restore pieces to be fully functioning using traditional methods.
