19th Century Rococo Italian Carved Giltwood Headboard

This magnificent 19th century Italian Rococo-style headboard is a glorious flourish of hand-carved giltwood. It seems to have drifted straight from an aristocratic palazzo, carrying centuries of charm in its wake.

The elaborate carving is a celebration of Rococo exuberance, with scrolling curves, delicate floral motifs and ornaments dancing across the frame. Every line moves with a sense of effortless elegance, creating the kind of decorative drama that never goes out of style.

Its upholstery is wonderfully atmospheric too. Recovered during the 1960s or early 1970s in a textured pink silk and linen blend. The softly faded blush tones and slightly rustic texture provide the perfect counterpoint to the rich gilding, creating a look that feels both grand and unexpectedly relaxed.

We have professionally cleaned the fabric, leaving it fresh and ready to enjoy. Keep it exactly as it is for maximum character, or use it as a beautiful canvas for your own fabric choice. Either way, the result will be spectacular!

The giltwood remains in good antique condition, showing the gentle wear one hopes to find on a piece of this age. Small losses to the gilding reveal its authentic history and only enhance its appeal. After all, antiques should whisper of their past, not pretend they were made yesterday. This remarkable piece will instantly transform your room with unapologetic glamour and old-world romance.

Practical side notes: You can hang the headbord on your wall and use a boxspring bed to place before it.

Dimensions: H 228 cm x W 132 cm x D 15 cm

Wear is consistent with age and use. Overall good condition, with usual wear, scratches, and minor losses to gilding.

Please keep in mind that in many cases we sell vintage and antique pieces. None of these pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition.

All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.

The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
